How much does it cost?
Since we custom build all of our menus, we need to know all of the basic information about your event in order to determine this. If you are working within a budget, please let us know immediately so we can work within the parameters of your budget.
How many staff members will I need?
Our general average for servers is one per every 20-25 guests. The style of service, intricacies of the menu and venue can alter this average. Plated events and dinner stations require a larger kitchen team than buffet or family style. Our kitchen teams consist of one chef, 2-6 cooks and 1-2 dishwashers depending on the size of the event and variety of food being served.
Are you a full service caterer?
Yes, we will take care of the set up of all rental items and additional items discussed at the final walk through, the service period and a full break down of the event once guests depart. Our company policy is to do a final walk through with the venue coordinator before leaving to make sure everything is left according to their needs.
Will you travel outside of the greater Burlington area?
Yes, however we do charge for travel time.
Is my party too large or too small to cater?
No, we love working with groups of all sizes and have experience coordinating large groups. Because our menu items are handmade, we do have a minimum of 10 guests. We can also recommend menus for pick-up or delivery that work well for the smaller gatherings if labor isn't needed.
Will you help with vendor coordination?
Yes, we are happy to help bring all of the parts and pieces together for your event. Most often, the client is involved with the early planning decisions to set up the initial order.
How do I book an event with Let's Pretend?
After accepting an estimate simply sign the contract and return it with a 25% deposit. A date is not held until we receive a signed contract and deposit. We will notify you immediately if we receive a deposit for the date of your proposal and need to withdraw our bid.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash or checks in U.S. funds. If you wish to use a credit card, most companies offer a check service that can be used.
What is your payment plan?
We require a non-refundable deposit, 25% of the estimate to reserve the date. A 50% payment is due two weeks prior to the event. And the remaining balance is due 1 day prior to your event. If additional fees are incurred, a separate invoice will be sent after your event. Interest is added to any outstanding balances.
Do you provide bar services ?
Let's Pretend is not licensed to handle or serve alcohol. We team up with insured Bar services and our teams work in conjunction with each other to take care of your guests needs.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes, the consultation could simply be a meet and greet time period to answer some basic questions. It could also be more of a working meeting to fine tune a preliminary estimate. By providing us with the estimate form, it enables us to be better prepared for your consultation. To schedule, simply contact us with a few dates that work with your schedule and we can align schedules.
Do you offer tastings and what is included?
We offer one tasting per wedding. Tastings are offered mid-week throughout the year pending availability and outside of the wedding season (typically October-April)on designated weekends. Tastings must be booked a minimum of 3 weeks in advance. We will make 5 hors d'oeuvres, 1 first course and 3 entrees for your tasting. There is an initial fee based on your menu selections. Upon booking with we will deduct this fee from your final invoice. If you would like to invite more than 4 guests and/or add on additional items to taste, additional costs will be incurred and will not be deducted from the final invoice. Are you available to meet on the weekends?
We do have some weekend availability but they are more limited due to events. If you would like to schedule an appointment please plan on having a Friday or Monday available as an option in case it is a busy weekend. Our teams are given vacation time around Thanksgiving and Christmas, please contact us to find out what appointments are available.
